Dr. Karissa Walton
Dr. Karissa Walton, NMD
Founder & Medical Director

Dr. Walton is an Arizona girl, born and raised. Since she was a young girl, she always knew her life purpose was to be a physician and this was the sole focus of her education. When the time finally came to apply for medical school, she was faced with personal and family health crises that gave her no other option but to delay this step. Through a very arduous journey of caring for her mother during her battle with cancer, Dr. Walton was ultimately led to naturopathic medicine. It was through this process that it became evident that true healing has been lost in modern medicine and she decided to pursue the journey to become the physician and healer she was meant to be.

During naturopathic medical school, Dr. Walton began studying oncology and planned to become an integrative oncologist. However, she realized that her gifts and experience were more in alignment with the preventative side. She quickly fell in love with physical and regenerative medicine. Dr. Walton spent the majority of her clinical clerkships working in the Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine, where she trained under some of the nation’s most experienced physicians in non-opioid pain management. She also completed several intensive training programs in regenerative injection techniques including Prolotherapy, Prolozone®, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), and Autologous Stem Cells. Dr. Karissa loves using regenerative medicine to help patients get out of pain so that they can move freely and live the life they love.

In addition to regenerative medicine, Dr. Walton has studied many other ways to optimize human performance including Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Ozone Therapy, Neurofeedback, and Functional Neurology. She specializes in treating a variety of conditions including autoimmune disease, chronic infectious illness, endocrine disorders (adrenal, thyroid, male and female hormones), musculoskeletal disorders, and neurodegenerative disease (Alzheimer’s, MS, Parkinson’s Disease).

Dr. Walton believes that medicine is rooted in both nature and science, and true health stems from combining them to treat the individual—not the condition. She believes in treating the underlying cause of illness, rather than suppressing symptoms. Using this functional approach to medicine, she is able to develop customized, targeted therapies for every patient. She is also able to help her patients understand the “why” behind their symptoms and teach them how to regain an optimal level of health.

Dr. Kristin Newell, NMD
Naturopathic Physician

Dr. Newell is from New England. She has always known that she wanted to be a doctor with her favorite childhood toy being a child’s doctor kit. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Biotechnology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).  During her time there she worked as a First Responder on campus. She wrote a paper on the potential uses of stem cells in medicine and the potential impact the use of stem cells might have on society. For her senior project, she worked with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Behavioral Follow-up Unit at UMass Memorial Center on a bridge project to help them track which NICU treatments resulted in better long-term outcomes. Through her journey to naturopathic medicine, she also worked in a lab performing genetic testing. Through her research, it was her personal and family health conditions that led to naturopathic medicine. Naturopathic medicine was an immediate fit for her because of her interest in prevention and her philosophy that the “pill for an ill” is not the only or best way for medicine to help people.

During naturopathic medical school Dr. Newell became passionate about many areas of medicine and ultimately decided to focus her clinical experience in regenerative medicine, non-opioid pain management, dermatology and minor surgery. She is dedicated to finding the cause of disease as well as the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. She spent a lot of time working at the Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative medicine while in medical school. There she trained extensively in Prolotherapy, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), and Perineural injection Therapy (PIT) for management of numerous conditions including joint pain, instability, muscle pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and sports injuries. She enjoys treating different dermatological conditions, performing scar therapy, and has done additional training in neuromodulators (Botox).

Our Team

Emily De La Huerta
Emily De La Huerta
Practice Manager

Hello, my name is Emily. I was born and raised in California until my teenage years when I moved to the Prescott area with my parents. As a child I watched my father grow a successful business and learned how to be self-driven and hard working. I am a mom of two and a wife to a wonderful and supportive husband. I have worked in the medical field for 10 years and have learned so many amazing talents. I have enjoyed working in many different medical settings as well as managing staff. In my most recent years of experience I have done staffing, medical billing, and operations management. I have truly come to learn how a team should operate and how important it is to communicate. My passion is to help others in their most critical times. My hobbies include camping, hiking, and hunting with my family.

In my time with The Mobile Health Doc, Dr. Karissa has taught me many things and continues to do so daily. I enjoy working at The Mobile Health Doc because it not only feels like home here, but it is an amazing place for patients to come and feel welcome.

Mikayla Sell
Mikayla Sell, BSN, RN
Registered Nurse

Hi, my name is Mikayla. I am 22 years old and recently graduated from Nursing School at Yavapai College. I’ve wanted to be in the medical field from a very young age. Medicine and helping people get better have always been my passion. I’ve gone back and forth between how I want to help people. I’ve looked into becoming a Physical Therapist, Chiropractor, Surgeon, and Nurse. Ideally, I would like to become either a flight nurse or a traveling nurse. My current passion is to treat the worst of the worst. I want to go to natural disasters, war zones, and places of poverty to help people get better. Another passion of mine is to do medical mission trips. In a perfect world, I would be rich with my own plane to fly supplies out to people in need while ministering to the world.

While I'm not helping other people, I love to be outside or with my dog Mia. I love hiking, running, snowboarding, and playing any competitive sport. I played competitive soccer for most of my life, making me an extremely motivated and determined person.

Yvette Wielenga
Administrative Assistant

Hi y’all! My name is Yvette but my amazing husband and friends call me Yetti. We are blessed with a beautiful daughter and grandson who we see often and love very much. I grew up in California where I graduated from Chapman Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. I worked in the mental health field at a subacute rehabilitation center for 12 years, collaborating with mental health professionals and other creative arts therapists. It was there that I learned quickly that healing is so much more than Western medical practices.

We relocated to the Prescott area in the spring of 2019 where I continued working in the medical field, expanding my experience to the admin side of things. In early 2022, I found the “perfect fit” here at The Mobile Health Doc. Dr. Karissa and her incredible team teach me something new every day. They are supportive and motivated to healthy living and healing practices. I could not be prouder to be part of such an incredible group of people. And our patients… Well they are the best!

Taylor Pearson
Medical Assistant

Hi, my name is Taylor. I am also known as the “Vampire.” I am the medical assistant and Phlebotomist here at The Mobile Health Doc. I’ve been working since I was 14 years old and have been trying to find the place to call home and have finally found it! The team here at The Mobile Health Doc have shown me what true teamwork is and how to always give 110% no matter what, because the team is right behind you cheering you on. I enjoy seeing all my patients even though they don’t really want to see me. I mean who really wants to be poked let’s be honest. Not many people can wake up and say that they love their job, but I am happy to say that I am one of the few that get to say that. I have made my forever family here and I am very blessed to have them by my side. They love the lord as I do and will always thank him for putting these wonderful people into my life.

When I am not working, I really enjoy being with my family and friends and the time Ihave with them. I am pretty good at cornhole, so we have a lot of family tournaments going on. I also love being on the lake and all the fun adventures that are always popping up.

Danger the Therapy Dog
Therapy Dog

Hi hoomans! My name is Danger. I’m a Shepadoodle who is everything but dangerous—my parents just have an interesting sense of humor. I’m a lover, fighter, and healer. I had a tough time as a puppy while battling a very bad case of Parvovirus and had to be hospitalized. Naturopathic medicine ended up saving my life after the veterinarian gave me a 2% chance of survival. I am so grateful to be alive and able to fulfill my calling of working with patients in need.

I love hiking, camping, playing fetch/keep-away, and hanging with all my dog and hooman friends. I love working at The Mobile Health Doc because I can put my paw or head on your leg and help you feel more comfortable while getting a blood draw or IV. I also like to wander around and help you feel welcome in my home away from home.
